Company Profile

Melanesian Handicraft are wholesalers and retailers of genuine Solomon Artifacts.

We were established in 1970 and export handicraft all over the world.

The partners of Melanesian Handicraft, Sir Mariano Kelesi and Bruce Saunders have many years experience in the

handcraft of the Solomon's.

Shipping is arranged by DHL Worldwide Couriers, air parcel post or air freight.

A colour catalogue is also available. Amex, Visa MasterCard accepted.

How to Order - Notice to Prospective Buyers
In general, buyers should realise that because of the truly individualistic way in which the handcrafts of the

Solomon Islands are produced,

it is difficult to ensure exact standardisation of design or size. Indeed, much of the charm and attraction of

Solomon Islands work derives from the fact that each object is a new creation.

The photographs in this online catalogue are intended as a general impression of the type of handcraft available.

Therefore, we do not have a "shopping cart" because customers will wish to make personal contact with

Melanesian Handicraft regarding their requirements before ordering.

Contact: Elizabeth Resture (Manager) Phone: (677) 22393 Fax: (677) 21027 Email: handicraft@bjs.com.sb

Please send us an email or fax, listing your requirements and the catalogue numbers of the representative items.

If you have requirements that are not represented in the catalogue, please let us know - we will be able to help you.

Prices
The prices quoted are also representative only. They are quoted in Australian Dollars and are FOB Honiara.

The price is subject to change without notice- however every effort is made to hold them at the level shown.

The price of a carving is based on the following consideration:

Style
Amount intracacy of  shell work (nautilus shell)
Smoothness and polish
For these reasons, we have stated a price range for an item in some cases.

Ebony carvings are hard to obtain and are therefore limited in quantity available.

Payment
On pro-forma invoice when money is received, goods are then dispatched. For large orders discount may be negotiated.

Melanesian Handicraft accepts payments by credit card (VISA/AMEX/Mastercard) and Telegraphic Transfer.

Please email or fax credit card details, number, expiry date, name of cardholder and an authorisation to charge the

stated/agreed amount to the card.

for breakage unless goods are insured by us.

Packing
All items are carefully packed for dispatch.

Dispatch
There are four methods of dispatch. These are:

DHL Express: For smaller packages and quick delivery time,

DHL offers a door-to-door service including customs clearance.

DHL prices are now comparable to Solomon Islands post office rates.

In addition, Melanesian Handicraft is a member of the BJS Group Of Companies www.bjs.com.sb

producer of Solomon Islands Trade Directory

who are also agents for DHL, making shipping considerations via this method more convenient.

Surface Air Lift via post office: This service operates only to Australia/NZ and England. Delivery 10-14 days.

Air Freight: This is a quick method and service to all Pacific areas and mainland countries. Very secure against breakages.

Air Parcel Post: This service operates world wide, parcel sizes are 1,3,5 and 10kg.

We use this service for small lighter articles as the cost factor is higher than other forms of despatch.

Delivery
Every effort is made to have goods packed and dispatched as soon as possible.

Packing
Packing and Customs Documentation Fee. A fee of A$25 per order is charged.
